How to play
Objective
Be the first to align three of your marks horizontally, vertically, or diagonally on a 3×3 grid.
Setup
- One player is X, the other is O.
- The grid starts empty.
Turn order
Who starts
X makes the first move, then turns alternate.
How to move
Place your mark in any empty cell. You cannot move an existing mark.
Win and draw conditions
Win
Three of your marks in a straight line (row, column, diagonal) ends the game—you win.
Draw
If the board fills with no winning line, the game is a draw.
Tips
Control the center
Taking the center early gives you more ways to make a line.
Create forks
Set up two winning threats at once; force your opponent to miss one.
Block promptly
Always block an opponent's two-in-a-row, even if it delays your plan.
